SSS Alumni

To get an idea of what is possible after graduating with a SSS degree check out what some of the recent grads of the program have done!

Grads of 2015

Ansel Renner

While at school Ansel did a minor in Mathematics. After graduating he did full-time research and development activity through Science Undergraduate Research Award in Montreal. Currently Ansel is at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona doing a Masters of Science: Interdisciplinary Studies in Environmental, Economic, and Social Sustainability with a concentration in Ecological Economics. His future projects include pursuing a broader prospective in political economy focused on energy and agriculture.

Courtney Ayukawa

While studying SSS Courtney did a minor in Sociology. After graduation, she traveled through Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and India. 

Lana Rothfels

During her SSS degree, Lana did a minor in Cell and Molecular Biology. After graduation, she went straight on to work at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, ON. She is currently working with an engineer to create a patient capacity model that will be used to inform funding decisions in regards to the expansion of the Princess Margaret’s Bone Marrow Transplant Program. Her future plans include Med school. 

Grads of 2014

Maggie Cascadden

While studying in the SSS program Maggie did a Urban Systems minor. After graduating she went on to work as conservation volunteers’ assistant for the Nature Conservancy of Canada in Calgary, AB. She is currently doing her Masters in Resource and Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC. 

Tamara Skootsky 

While studying at McGill, Tamara did a minor in German Language. After graduation she worked in small business administration and the outdoor industry. Currently she is applying for jobs in Management Consulting. In the future Tamara hopes to go back to school for Business, Organizational Development, or Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She wants to contribute to research on life/work balance and nature deficit disorder in the workplace and/or take on sustainability initiatives from with the corporate workplace.

Aryeh Canter

While in the SSS program, Aryeh completed an Urban Systems minor. After graduation he did Religious studies in Jerusalem and organized a street festival. Currently he is taking classes at Columbia and applying to Graduate School in Environmental Engineering.

Grads of 2013

Laura Gillies-Podgorecki

Laura did a minor in Economics while doing her undergrad in SSS at McGill. After graduating she moved on to Strategy Consulting in Montreal.  Currently she is back at McGill for Post Grad. In the future she hopes to work in Chartered Professional Accounting.
